Formation and Evangelization
| Lay Formation Opportunities | At various times of the year special series, classes or seminars are offered which give parishioners a chance to learn more about our Catholic faith. The Diocese of Yakima conducts a series of seminars on basic Catholic teaching, scripture, ministry and other foundational topics. Participation may be for single topics or can lead to a certificate of learning. Other opportunities offered by the parish include basic evangelization and apologetics, parish missions, dramatic presentations, homilies and witness talks at weekend liturgies, SCC's, Stewardship education, the Called & Gifted Workshop and follow-up process. Videos on basic Catholic teaching are available in the parish Ministries Office and the Diocesan library has videos and books. |
| Bible Study | Bible Study sessions are held at least twice a year in the fall and spring. By reading and studying scripture, participants can deepen their knowledge and understanding of God's Word. A large group presentation and small group discussion as well as home study make up one format. Facilitators for the small groups who can help with smooth discussion are needed. Another format utilizes large group presentation with open discussion and dialogue. |
| Called & Gifted Discernment Process | Personal spiritual growth is the purpose for this process which gives tools for discerning where and how God wants each of us to live out our Baptismal calling. By developing and using our own special charisms for the good of the world we can find fulfillment and purpose in life beyond what society can offer. Called and Gifted begins with a weekend experience where we discern our charisms and continues with an optional interview and small group process that help in the development of the special role God intends for us. Call the parish for upcoming workshop dates. |
| Re-Membering Church | (Returning Catholics) Re-Membering Church is a safe place for returning Catholics to explore their faith and their future with the Church. It is a supportive community where you can ask questions, discuss issues and deal with difficulties in the company of ordinary Catholics who are trying to live their faith. Groups meet weekly for approximately 8 weeks. |
| Serra Club | Through the intercession and under the example of Junipero Serra, founder of the California Missions, this international organization for encouraging, praying for and supporting vocations to priesthood (Sacrament of Holy Orders) and religious life is represented in our diocese and community and is open to membership by all who share a belief in the importance of this mission. |
