Activities may include telephoning newcomers to give a personalized welcome, participating in newcomers' socials and/or providing information about the life and ministries of our parish and community resources. |

| Servants of Mary | The Servants of Mary minister to the sick & those in nursing homes by visiting and by taking Holy Eucharist. The group also coordinates masses at various nursing homes in the area. Meetings are most Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the church. Newcomers are welcome. |

| Funeral Luncheon Committee | Loss of a loved one is a tragedy that takes time to heal. Grief is natural and normal but there is no one pattern to grieving and healing. Each grieving process is unique. This Ministry's purpose is to help those in our Faith Community who are journeying through this difficult process by preparing and serving a simple luncheon to the bereaved family and friends so time may be taken to visit, reminisce and then go their separate ways. While a nominal fee is requested on a per-person basis, no one will be refused for a lack of funds. |
| Prayer Chain | The Holy Family Prayer Chain exists to pray for the special needs and requests of parishioners. Prayer and support of others is at the heart of who we are as a Christian community. After a prayer request is made, the intention is moved along a phone network made up of parishioners and other prayerful people. |
| Visitation Ministries | (Home & Hospitals) Includes Ministers of Communion to Nursing Homes / Homebound Provides visits to the homebound, nursing home or hospitalized parishioners in our parish. Our priests and ministers of care reinforce, while on their visits, that those who are being visited continue to be part of the Holy Family parish, and a very essential part of the community, even though they cannot attend our worship services. Holy Communion, Prayer, Support and/or Fellowship are offered during visits. A priest is always notified by a visitation minister when there is a need. |
| Hospital Visits By Our Priests | Several times each week our priests visit the local hospitals and spend time with the sick or injured and their loved ones. The Sacrament of the Sick is available to all in need. Please call the parish office when family members are admitted to the hospital. |
ADMINISTRATION & TECHNOLOGY Top |
|
| Parish Office Support | There are always plenty of things to be done to keep this parish community informed and running smoothly. Activities usually occur during normal business hours by groups of people and include: bulletin stuffing, preparing and assembling mailings (copying, collating, folding, etc.) for the parish and various ministries, back-up receptionist/assistant (answering the telephone and greeting visitors to the parish) always in a congenial atmosphere. |
| Computer Data Entry | Each year hundreds of parishioners give of their talents in dozens of ministries in our parish. Good communication with them requires an always up-to-date ministry database. You can support that communication by sharing your data input skills. Usually during normal business hours or by special arrangement. |
| Website Team | Be part of the team that designs and improves our parish website www.holyfamilyyakima.org. We are seeking those with gifts or interest in writing, copy-editing, design and website maintenance. Once the site is fully operational, meetings are on an as needed basis (usually quarterly). Some work that may be needed weekly or monthly may be done from your home computer depending on your hardware and internet connection. |
| Desktop Publishing/Graphic Arts | If you know desktop publishing, you know a good publication takes more than a keyboard and some great ideas! You can help us produce our flyers, newsletters, brochures, etc. Information/articles comes from ministry leaders you help provide layout and formatting etc. Skills needed: desktop publishing experience and familiarity with current versions of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher or Front Page. Time commitment depends on the project. |
| Traffic Control | (Special Events) Several times each year we have special events or particularly well attended liturgies that bring more cars than our parking lots can handle. When this happens we deploy a crew of parking attendants that direct traffic, prevent illegal or unsafe parking and generally keep things running smoothly in the lots. Safety vests, cones, etc. are provided. You can help on one event or several. |

Building and Room Use Policy Top
Holy Family is blessed with very spacious facilities and extremely functional floor plans that can be used for almost any kind of gathering a parish may convene. As was outlined in the section on our parish's history, many people over the decades have sacrificed and worked so we today can benefit from their foresight and efforts. All the facilities: church, chapel, gym, gathering hall, activity room and classrooms are available for parishioner's use within certain restrictions and boundaries. If you would like to use a space in our facilities, contact the parish office well in advance for availability and policies associated with the space in which you are interested. All use requires a signed agreement. Some require deposits, on-site parish event manager (for a fee) and/or cleaning fees. Please check with the office about specific policies. We will do our best to try and accommodate your gathering but please be understanding if rooms are already booked or if your plans don't fit with the stated guidelines for facility use. Please contact the Parish Office for more information.
