Liturgical Ministries
| Hospitality | Hospitality is the art of a "recklessly generous heart." It is our mission to welcome and greet the members of the Faith Community attending weekend Mass. Greeters & Ushers welcome people to the Liturgy and hand out programs or do other welcoming activities as needed; ushers also assist with seating, collect the offertory, distribute bulletins after Mass and ensure that the Communion procession is a prayerful and orderly experience. Adults, Senior High youth, and families are welcome to minister. Greeters minister at one Mass per month and some Holy Days. Ushers minister at the same Mass each weekend as scheduled by team leader and some Holy Days. One training session is provided each year. |
| Hospitality After Mass | Volunteers are needed who are willing to serve refreshments after Sunday morning Masses to help build parish community. Individuals, families, small groups and parish organizations are all encouraged to volunteer. |

| Ministers of Communion | (Formerly Called Eucharistic Ministers) Through Baptism we are called to serve the Lord and bring Jesus to one another. This is brought about in a special way through the distribution of the sacred Body and Blood to those assembled during Sunday and weekday liturgies. A joy-filled understanding of the Eucharist, a reverence for the people as the body of Christ and a willingness to work as a team member are needed qualities to assure orderly and prayerful distribution. Ministers of Communion serve at one Mass every three to four weeks depending on schedule and some Holy Days. A MANDATORY workshop is given each year for orientation, training and spirituality. |
| Lectors | Proclaim the Word with care and enthusiasm in the Liturgy. The Word of God is not merely print on the page. It is ALIVE and the News is GOOD! A good, clear speaking voice, poise and a willingness to develop the ability to proclaim the Word is needed. Lectors need to be prepared to proclaim at one Mass every 3-5 weeks depending on the schedule. There is a MANDATORY workshop each year, for orientation, training and spirituality. |
| Altar Servers | Provide helpful assistance at Mass by growing in an understanding of the liturgy through training and formation. Help on the altar assisting the priest or deacon with celebration of the Mass ; attend to special liturgies for weddings, funerals, Holy Week, etc. You must be in the 4th grade or older, have reverence, attentiveness, and ability to think on your feet. Help at one Mass every 3-4 weeks or so. Parental support is very important. You are asked to come to a training session every year and be willing to learn new procedures as you get more experienced. |
| Eucharistic Adoration | We offer people the chance to pray before the Blessed Sacrament every Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel. |
| Art & Environment; Decorating & Sewing | The Art and Environment committee strives to visually express the liturgy - its seasons, its feasts and its messages. The teams undertake to do these things while maintaining an atmosphere conducive to prayer and meditation. Team creates the atmosphere and mood of reverence and prayer for liturgies through the year by helping to implement some of the ideas and visions of the parish Liturgy Board and the pastor for decorating the church, making banners, vestments and other seasonal needs. Environment & Decorating are active on a seasonal and as-needed basis; sewing group meets weekly and at other times as needed. Sewers need skills with a needle & thread and other materials and an eye for color, form & design. |
| Sacristans | Do all the things necessary to keep the sanctuary and sacristy clean and orderly for the glory of God and to prepare a respectful place of worship for the celebrations of our faith community. Sacristans clean the sanctuary and sacristy, the liturgical vessels, the liturgical linens and altar servers' cassocks. There are four teams and each meets once every four weeks in the sacristy. |
| Tabulators | Play an important part in the parish financial and bookkeeping process. Count and tabulate the weekly offering following parish guidelines. Accuracy and speed in counting money and organizing checks is needed. Weekly or as scheduled on Sunday mornings. |
| Seasonal Prayer Services And Liturgies | Help with planning and putting on prayer services or liturgies at various times of the year such as Lenten reflections, parish mission, evenings of prayer, rosary for life, etc. Need to be able to inspire others to pray and fully participate in prayer; organized and able to promote involvement by a wide range of parish and community members. Seasonal as needed; could help with all for a time period or help on an event-by-event basis as you can. A great opportunity to learn about planning liturgies and to provide a deeper sense of spirituality in yourself and neighbor. |
| Audio Visual Ministry | Provide visual aids to the community and control / back-up for sound in the church and at parish functions. Basic knowledge of sound and visual equipment and of the order of the Liturgy. Special training and orientation for our particular equipment and space will be provided. Need a willingness to commit to the schedule provided and to make things happen behind the scenes |
