Parish Structure
The Holy Family faith community has very seriously accepted its shared responsibility for the spiritual welfare of its members. Over the years its ministerial structure has changed and evolved to serve the needs of the community. Currently the basic structure of the parish is as follows:
The Pastor, associate pastors and staff are called as priests or professional ministers to serve and to draw forth the gifts of the community. Through the Sacraments, education, prayer & worship, ministry leadership, presence and good stewardship they help enable God's people to minister to one another and reach their fulfillment as individuals uniquely gifted by God to build the Kingdom. The parish staff participates in the day-to-day operations of the parish and provides support for the various ministries.
Councils, Committees and Boards: These groups support the Parish as a whole with strategic oversight in response to the Pastor's direction. Our goal is that each of the many groups, ministries and organizations in the parish be linked with a committee or board, which acts as an overseeing or consultative body for that area, for the purposes of communication, assistance and coordination. Most members are selected through a discernment process and meetings are generally held monthly -- consult parish calendar or bulletin for information.
| Pastoral Council | The Pastoral Council is both a consultative aid to the pastor and his staff, and a voice of discernment, focus and direction for the parish at large. The Council promotes community, recommends parish priorities and directions through pastoral planning. It promotes communication and understanding among parish organizations and between the parish, diocese and universal church. Membership is by discernment. Terms are limited to 3 years. |
| Parish Finance Council | The Finance Board is a recommending and consultative body to the pastor and Pastoral Council under the guidance of the parish mission statement dealing with the administration of the parish's material resources. Members have some experience in a related area such as accounting, law or finance and development. Membership is by appointment of the pastor. |
| Liturgy Board | The Liturgy Board assists the pastor to "remain actively informed" about the religious and social conditions of the faithful committed to his care; ensures full use of the means offered by the rites; notes what helps and what hinders genuine renewal and engages in education. Board members are called to be familiar with all aspects of liturgical policy and practice. The board recommends to the pastor methods for spiritual and liturgical renewal. It is responsible for recommendations about the more permanent art and environmental aspects of the worship space and provides guidance to all the liturgical ministries. Membership is by discernment. |
| Stewardship Committee | The Stewardship Committee seeks to involve all members of the parish in the parish's mission and assist them in discerning how to be good stewards of the time, talent and treasure God has given them. The committee promotes stewardship as a way of life through regular education activities and an annual appeal process. Membership is by discernment.
"All that we have is a gift, a blessing from a loving God. God's purpose is that we use these gifts responsibly, generously, and wisely, for building up His Kingdom. By freely choosing to use our gifts to love and serve God and neighbor we join in the mission of the church to the world." From: Stewardship, A Disciple's Response (National Conference of Catholic Bishops) |
| Activity Board | The Activity Board decides on and plans various parish events such as picnics, trips, special celebrations and after mass social coffee gatherings. Membership is by discernment. Activity Committees help plan and implement one of the above named events and others on a one-time commitment. Call an Activity Board member to volunteer for a committee. |
| Small Church Communities Leadership Team | The Small Church Communities Leadership Team develops leaders for SCC's by providing training, coaching and encouragement to group facilitators and contact people. The team researches and makes available materials that fit the needs of each group as they seek to live out the six elements of Small Church Communities. The team also plans and implements various prayer, training and group social events for SCC's. Membership is by discernment from within the SCC groups. |
| Family Life Board | Family Life Board promotes the importance of family roles and relationships in order to strengthen the family core. Provides information, resources and activities for families throughout all the stages of family life. Membership is by discernment. |
| Youth Council | Youth Council is a consultative body of high school youth and adults who work closely with the parish Youth Minister and Youth Ministry Team in discerning needs, planning events and evaluating how things are going in all components of youth ministry. Membership is by discernment from within the youth ministry program. |
As a called and gifted people, we at Holy Family benefit from or share our time and talent in a variety of ministries. These ministries serve to develop and strengthen the experience of church within our parish, within our small church communities and as a sign of church to the broader community.
